What motivated you to decide that it was time to step up your fitness efforts and that a personal trainer may be your preferred way of training? 

> What is your long-term goal?

This may be simply to establish a good fitness routine which you will keep you motivated and lead to a healthier lifestyle. It may be to get down to certain weight for a forthcoming event. Perhaps you’re getting back into shape after an injury or pregnancy. Whatever the goal, it will be used to tailor a programme to meet your needs.

> What are your exercise preferences?

There is nothing worse than doing an exercise or exercise programme you do not like as this can lead to a lack of motivation. Discussing your exercise likes and dislikes will ensure you get a programme that works for you. 

> What is your current exercise routine?

The main aim of this is to gather some information about your current fitness level which will help when designing an exercise programme. 

> Do you have any physical limitations?

Any current or past injuries and/or physical limitations you may have. These would then be taken into consideration so that modifications to exercises can be made or alternative exercises recommended. 

> What can I do for you?

It is important that you understand the personal training process and the role of a personal trainer. I will explain how I work with clients and what you can expect from our time together. At the end of this meeting, I would outline what type of training programme would work for you and how often you should be training, with and without a trainer.
